For the first time in history, following the important increase in net benefit (close to €1 billion in 2007), SNCF, the French national railway company, will pay the French State (major shareholder) a €131.3 million dividend.
It has been publicly announced, in the National Official Journal of the French Republic, that the dividend will be paid by June 30, 3008 and is a bit over what SNCF announced in its annual financial report in March.
In 2007, SNCF net profit tripled to exactly €1.042 billion which the railroad now expects to double by 2012, thanks to the dynamism of its new President Guillaume Pepy, and of its new strategy, especially in the freight sector.
