Posted on March 13, 2008 by Matthieu Desiderio

Airbus, announced Tuesday, March 11 it has delivered the third A380 superjumbo to its first client Singapore Airlines, less than five months after the delivery of the first aircraft.

Since the first aircraft was delivered on October 15, 2007, Airbus delivered two more, on January 11, and the last one on March 8. The jet is equipped with Trent 900 Rolls-Royce engines and Airbus announced Singapore Airlines chose the same luxurious 471 seats configuration as the first one.

This new plane will start regular service on March 18, 2008 between Singapore and London. The two first were operated between Singapore and Sydney. Airbus already delivered one third of Singapore Airlines firm order of 9 A380 superjumbos. The airline has an option for six more and may probably confirm the order, which would bring the fleet to 15 aircrafts.
