In brief: Alstom will be allowed to bid on Montreal Metro invitation to tender
Posted on January 13, 2008 by Matthieu Desiderio
May 2006: the STM (Société de Transport de Montréal, Montreal transit authority) decided to negotiate its contract to renew metro rail cars exclusively with the Canadian firm Bombardier without any invitation to tender. The French manufacturer Alstom filed a complaint with the Quebec Superior Court to be allowed to bid for this contract.
Early January 2008, the Quebec Superior Court recognized the right for Alstom to participate in an invitation to tender. The company will bid for a renewal contract of 336 metro rail cars evaluated around $1,2 billion (more than €800 million).
